Here are the introduction of the more important characters of Shaman King

Asakura Yoh

Asakura Yoh. Aged 13. Born in Izumo Japan. Blood type A. Birth date 12 may 1985. Hobby, listening to music and sleeping. Likes to eat curry. Yoh is an extremely relaxed shaman who does not waver even in the worst situations. He always believes that no matter what, everything will turn out right. Sometimes, it does seem that he lacks some feelings and his friends wonder if this is because he is hao's other half...

Kyoyama Anna

Kyoyama Anna. Age unknown. Born in japan(Qing Sen). Blood type unknown. Birth date unknown. Likes entertainment shows. Anna is a mysterious and powerful Itako(a type of shaman that can summon spirits from anywhere). She has a painful past but Yoh brought her out from her misery with the help of Matamune, his first main spirit. Anna had the power to read another's mind then(who knows if she still has it now), just like hao and she attracted demons with her hatred. Yoh had to go and meet this fiancee of his(arranged by grandparents) and thus finds out her problem. He saves her, scarificing matamune in the process and Anna decides to aid him to become the shaman king. ( They developed feelings after the incident). One more thing, Anna is a very scary and cool woman who will flare up at anything or anyone that she feels unhappy with. Yoh is very very afraid of her. That includes his friends.

Oyamada Manta

Oyamada Manta. Aged 13. Born in Tokyo Japan. Blood type O. Birth date sep 5 1985. Likes to study(don't ask why). Manta comes from a rich family and he lives a very mono peaceful life, facing a daily routine everyday. However, his whole life changes the day he crosses the graveyard to take the shortcut to school and sees a mysterious boy having fun with spirits. Strangly for Manta, a human, he is able to see spirits. Yoh believes that this means Manta is a good person. After a few incidents of testing their bond of friendship, Manta becomes Yoh's best friend and joins him in his quest to become the shaman king.

Horohoro

Horohoro. Aged 13. Born in Japan(Bei hai dao). Blood type O. Birth date Nov 27 1985. Likes to snowboard. Horohoro wants to become the shaman king in order to save nature and kororo(his main spirit, seen above him). He is a fun loving person who has a scary sister, Pirica. She, like Anna, puts him through a special training course that torments him like hell. Horohoro may seem very innocent but in fact he does have an unbelievable heritage that must not be underestimated. Otherwise, he simply plays around happily and joins Yoh on the road to become the shaman king.

Faust VIII

Faust VIII. Aged 32. Born in Germany. Blood type A. Birth date April 8 1966. Faust was a doctor who fell in love with a nurse, Elisa. They got married but she was murdered by an unknown killer. Ever since then. he tried ways and means to bring her back to life, to overcome death. He wants to become the shaman king to gain the power of reviving Elisa. During the first meet, Faust almost killed Yoh who lost his cool when Faust tried to do a surgery on Manta just to anger Yoh. However, Anna helped Faust get back Elisa's soul(Anna is an itako, don't forget) and in turn Faust dedicates his life to aid Yoh in becoming the shaman king. He, Ryu and Yoh formed a team in the shaman fight.

Ironmaiden Jeanne

Iron maiden Jeanne. Aged 8. Born in France. Blood type AB. Birth date March 3 1990. Likes to eat strawberry cake. Jeanne is the leader of the X-laws, a group organised to destroy Hao. It consists mainly of shamans who wants to take revenge on Hao and wipe out his evil existance for good. However, they also kill innocent lives to achieve their goals and they still claim that they are performing justice(forgive me, I have to admit that i hate the X-laws). Yoh rejected their offer to join the X-laws for he could not stand their way of killing that does not seem to differ from the way Hao does it. The X-laws do not mind scarificing their own lives as long as it aids to the destruction of Hao and for this, Hao finds it stupid yet funny for not matter what, they can never defeat him. Jeanne is powerful but not enough to even match Hao's powers. She has the power to revive the dead, just like Hao.

Tamamura Tamao

Tamamura Tamao. Aged 10. Born in Japan. Blood type A. Birth date June 17 1988. Likes to do house cleaning. Tamao is a sweet an caring little girl. She is Yoh's junior as taken care by his grandparents as their disciple. Tamao had had a crush on Yoh ever since she saw him with his determination as a child and her feelings developed ever since then but she believes that Anna is the one Yoh truely needs. Tamao has two main spirits, Ponchi and Conchi who always try to make trouble and fools her around whenever they can, except when they face Anna who always see through them and beat them up real bad. Otherwise, Tamao is but a simple girl who will do anything for Yoh including the fact that she went to aid him in the shaman fight.

Tao Jun

Tao Jun, aged 17, born in china, blood type A, birth date Oct 10 1981. Jun is the elder sister to Ren and she too suffers the burden of revenging the Tao family. However, she was also brought out of the darkness by Yoh when he defeated her invincible puppet, Lee Pyron, showing her that nothing is impossible. She changed like her brother and both of them believed in Yoh.

Goldva

Goldva. Age(count it yourself). Born in America. Blood type O. Birth date 1st october 1921. Likes to eat meat. She's the leader of the 10 patch men.

Amidamaru

Amidamaru. Aged 24(before death). Born in Japan(city unknown). Blood type A. Birth date Jan 6 1385. Likes to eat white rice. Amidamaru was a legendary samurai before death and was feared ever since then as a 'demon'. However, he meets Yoh and feels the kind hearted spirit in him, thus becoming Yoh's main spirit and friend, fighting with him side by side on his quest to become the shaman king.

Hao

Hao. Aged 13. Born in Izumo Japan. Blood type A. Birth date may 12 1985. Likes to write music and eat curry. Hao was Yoh's ancestor 1000 years ago, name Asakura Hao. He was a great Yinyang master and had a kind heart. However, demons were attracted to his kind heart and changed him. Hao decided to wipe the world of humans and build a shaman kingdom. He was betrayed by his family members who killed him. 500 years later he reincarnated and gained the spirit of fire but was killed again by his decendant and only friend, matamune. This time, Hao reincarnates as Yoh's twin and is bet on taking back Yoh's body since it is actually 'his' body. Thus he puts Yoh through hell just to make him stronger. In truth, they may seem really different but they are actually very the same. They even went for coffee together once(only in the comics). Yoh is bet on changing Hao back instead of killing him. Hao is one who gets what he wants when he wants it. Like Yoh, Hao is a very relaxed shaman

Tao Ren

Tao Ren. Aged 12. Born in china. Blood type AB. Birth date Jan 1 1986. Likes to excerise. Ren is a very stubborn and determined boy. He has a painful past for he witnessed too many deaths and his father is torturing him with the burden of revenging the Tao family against the humans. This caused Ren to hate the world. However, his heart start to change when he meets Yoh who smiles no matter what and lets him see things beyond his imagination. Ren starts to believe in Yoh and his 'everything will be okay' promise. Yoh saves Ren from his torment by bringing him out of the darkness and together with other friends, they defeat Ren's father. Ren then joins Yoh as his trustworthy friend. He may seem cold but in truth, he is a very kind and caring person who is very warm inside.

Bokutou No Ryu

Bokutou No Ryu. Aged 18. Born in Tokyo Japan. Blood type O. Birth date Dec 24 1980. Ryu is a lecher who can't wait to get his hands on the next girl he sees passing by. However, he is a kind hearted person who is looking for his 'best place' where he can rest in peace. He is a gangster with a gang of idiots really, who beat up Manta once, angering Yoh unexpectedly. After witnessing the fight between Yoh and Ren, however, Ryu decides to become a shaman. He is unknowingly trained by Yoh's mysterious father, Asakura Mickey who hopes Ryu will aid Yoh in whatever that will come, including the fact that Yoh has to face Hao. Ryu gives up the idea of becoming the shaman king for he believes that Yoh can realise his dream for him if he becomes the shaman king, to create the world into the 'best place'. Thus, he aids Yoh to become the shaman king.

Diethel Lyseg

Diethel Lyseg. Aged 12. Born in England. Blood type AB. Birth date May 17 1986. Lyseg is the son of a detective who uses his shamanic powers to track things down. Lyseg wants to grow up like his father too. However, Hao came along a few years back and wiped out his whole family when they refused to join him. Since then, Lyseg took Morphin, his main spirit and joined the shaman fight in hope to find strong companions to help him revenge his family. He meets Yoh along the way and witnesses Yoh's power. They start off badly but Yoh listens to his story and lets him join them. However, Lyseg later joins the X-laws when he realise they aim to kill Hao. Though so, his heart remains guilty to Yoh and seems to be lacking something that hides away the pure heart he once had.

Chocolove

Chocolove. Aged 13. Born in United States of America. Blood type O. Borth date Oct 2 1985. Chocolove was once a gangster who changed after he met a man, Orona, whom he greeted as his master, a shaman. However, Orona died trying to change another bad man, leaving behind chocolove and his main spirit, Mic. Orona told Chocolove to keep on smiling no matter what and to pass on this happiness to the world. Chocolove decides to realise this dream by becoming the shaman king, though he tells really lame jokes and infuriate Ren most of the time. Chocolove, horohoro and Ren formed a team in the shaman fight.

Asakura Yohmei

Asakura Kino

Asakura Yohmei(old man), born in Izumo japan, Blood type O, bith date July 2 1919. Asakura Kino(old woman), born in Japan(Qing sen), Blood type A, birth date March 24 1924. Yohmei and Kino are the grandparents of Yoh. Yoh and Anna's marriage was decided by Kino. Yohmei wanted to kill hao when he realised that his daughter, Keiko(Yoh's mother) was pregnant with him. He hesistated for the child was a twin and he could not differ which was Hao. Unfortunately, the plan did not succeed for Hao reacted sooner and managed to escape with his spirit of fire. Yohmei kept this secret for years before finally revealing it to Anna, in hope she will help Yoh defeat Hao.

Lily Five

The Lily five only appeared in the anime show, not in the comics. Therefore, no imformation is given in the book. However, from wat i know and see about them in the show, (no offense to the fans of lily five), they are just a bunch of useless and irritatng gang. I really would have supported Hao in killing them if i wasnt on Yoh's side...

Other characters without pics include Asakura Mickey(Yoh's father). He changed his name and other personal imformation after the incident with Hao's birth. Current name is Mickey and birth date is Oct 9 1958. Mickey is the father of both Yoh and Hao(also considered as Hao's decendant). However, he is trying ways and means to destroy Hao, the son he could not bear to kill the day he was born. Mickey is a very myserious person who took care of two young lost kids with a dark past involving Chocolove called Seyrarm and Redseb.

Another character is Silva, born in America, blood type is B, birth date Sep 16 1971. Silva is one of the ten patch men, the group of shamans who organised the shaman fight through the command of the Great Spirits. His past is unknown though he does seem to have a secretive relation with hao, something he is not very pleased about(Silva was revealed to be Hao's decendant in the anime but his identity is still unknown in the comics). Silva was the one who tested Yoh's power in the first shaman fight test and ever since then, he showed quite an amount of interest in our main character.

Matamune. Born in Tokyo Japan. Age, birth date, blood type unknown.(This character never appeared in the anime but plays quite an important role in the comics). Matamune is a cat who was picked up by the great Yinyang master Asakura Hao 1000 years ago. Asakura Hao treated Matamune as his only friend and gave matamune the power to oversoul(advanced stage of hyoi gattai. Instead of entering the shaman's body, the spirit enters something that represents him. E.g. Amida is a samurai, a sword represents him). Asakura Hao told matamune that as long as he does not use up the power he gave him(even if both of them are dead), matamune will never cease to exist. Matamune, along with Asakura Yohken(Hao's decendant) killed Hao in the 500 years later shaman fight to stop him from doing evil. He regreted it since then. Matamune traveled all around the world to find the answer to his sorrow and that is when he met Yoh, on his way to meet his fiancee, Anna. Matamune scarificed himself to save Anna(he had to use up all his powers to defeat the demons that was chasing after Anna). He told Yoh that he will come back again the day Yoh possesses the same amount of power Hao had to let matamune return. Matamune believes that Yoh should be able to save the person he did not manage to save 1000 years ago(Hao) and that he will be able to find that answer for him. With that, he leaves for the other world. However, in the later part of the comics when Yoh was killed, Yoh decended to hell and there, he felt that matamune was around. Matamune indeed was there but he did not appear in front of Yoh for he will only do when Yoh becomes strong enough.
